| Flicker’s Round Trip is a true story. As a volunteer at Wolf Hollow Rehabilitation Center on San Juan Island, Ann Hanson helped a young flicker who had fallen from a nest. For three months, she cared for him, encouraging him to eat and grow. When he became an adult, Ann and her husband took him on the ferryboat back to Orcas Island. They released him on Mountain Trail, near where he had been found. The idea for this story came as he flew up into the woods where he had been hatched. A portion of the proceeds from this book goes to benefit Wolf Hollow Rehabilitation Center. |
